Your First Visit to Gary Farrell Winery: What to Expect from Arrival to Last Sip

If you are planning your first wine tasting experience in the Russian River Valley, we are glad you found us. This guide covers everything you need to know before you arrive: the tasting experiences we offer, how to make Gary Farrell reservations, what our policies are, and how to make the most of your time overlooking one of Healdsburg’s most scenic wine corridors.

For the full overview, see our Visit Hub. Or read on for the details that matter before you book.

What Our Tasting Room Is Like

Our Gary Farrell tasting room sits at 10701 Westside Road in Healdsburg, perched above the Russian River Valley with views of the river and surrounding vineyards. The setting alone is worth the drive from downtown Healdsburg.

At Gary Farrell, there is no single way to experience a visit, and that is exactly the point. You can settle into a seated tasting, enjoy a glass of wine at your own pace, or explore the property with a guided tour. Some guests come ready to dive deep into vineyards and vintages, while others are here to take in the view and spend time together. Both are equally at home here.

Our team is there to meet you where you are. If you want to talk about the nuances of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, we are all in. If you would rather keep things light and simply enjoy the moment, that works too.

The experience is yours to shape. We are just here to make it feel easy, welcoming, and worth lingering over.

We have been rooted in the Russian River Valley since the early days of the appellation, with long-term relationships with some of the region’s most respected growers. That depth shows up in everything you taste with us.

For visitors who want to go further, our Behind the Cellar Door experience begins with a guided walk through our cellar, covering our winemaking philosophy and technique before moving into a seated tasting. The lineup includes rare bottlings alongside our single-vineyard wines, and we are happy to tailor the experience if there is a specific wine you have been hoping to try.

Signature Sips: Bottle Service

1 to 6 guests | 60 minutes | Available beginning April 2026

For those who prefer to set their own pace, our Signature Sips experience offers wine by the glass or by the bottle in our Wine Lounge, a relaxed and elegant space with a bird’s eye view of the Russian River Valley. What Comes Next After Your Tasting

A first visit has a way of becoming a reason to return. Our membership program is built for exactly that: complimentary tastings, access to single-vineyard wines before general release, customizable shipments, and member-only events throughout the year. If you find yourself reluctant to leave the overlook, that is usually where the conversation about membership begins.

For a closer look at the history and philosophy that shape every bottle we produce, our Legacy page is a worthwhile read before or after your visit.
