Grand Crew: Upcoming New Releases

February 2020

Membership in Grand Crew offers first and often exclusive access to our new release single vineyard wines at each release in February, May and September.

Gary Farrell Family of Wines

We are extremely excited to reveal our new Single Vineyard Wine label, available exclusively to our Grand Crew Members! Our traditional parchment label has been the standard bearer for Gary Farrell Vineyards & Winery for over two decades. Our new blue label is featured on Theresa Heredia’s 5th full vintage as winemaker for Gary Farrell and as our wine style continues to evolve under her watchful eye, we look to the future and choose to further define these beautiful single vineyard wines. We are incredibly proud to add this distinct blue label alongside our parchment Russian River Selection, grey Rose, and black Inspiration Series labels.

2017 Durell Vineyard Chardonnay, Sonoma Valley

Exclusive Add On: Collector & Connoisseur

The beautiful bouquet opens with aromas of lemon, stone fruit and white flower petals, leading to a rich, yet mineral-driven palate that brims with creaminess and lemony persistence. Flavors of tropical fruit, honey, toasted hazelnut and flint come together to offer both richness and refinement. Tangy acidity lends a zesty, lingering and mouthwatering finish.

2017 Olivet Lane Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

Winemakers Selection: Collector & Connoisseur

Inviting aromas of apples, peaches, and pears introduce this Chardonnay from the historic Olivet Lane vineyard. Notes of honeysuckle, jasmine, and beeswax seamlessly integrate with the fruit profile, displaying the intrigue and depth that this site consistently offers. Firm acidity provides an excellent counterpoint to the complex aromatics, shining the way from start to finish.

2017 Rochioli Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley

Winemakers Selection: Collector, Connoisseur & Enthusiast

Bright lemon zest, ripe peaches, and nectarines quickly race out of the glass. A generous collection of white flowers and baking spices complement the lush fruit components.  The entry is focused, crisp, and mineral driven with undertones of crème brulee, hazelnuts, and lightly toasted French oak providing support.

2017 Fort Ross Vineyard Pinot Noir, Fort Ross-Seaview

Winemakers Selection: Collector & Connoisseur

Savory earth tones permeate from the glass at first swirl. Aromas of eucalyptus, mint, black olives, and green tea invite further exploration. An essence of dried strawberries and figs leads the way to a collection of wild raspberries and cherry jam. The palate is delightfully pure and vibrant, with an exceptional array of textures and complex flavors that are a hallmark of Sonoma Coast fruit.

2017 Hallberg Vineyard Dijon Clones Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

Winemakers Selection: Collector, Connoisseur & Enthusiast

Aromas of ripe strawberries, cherries, and cranberry emanate from the glass. These fresh fruit components are carefully balanced with a concert of dried porcini mushrooms, truffles, and leather. Bright and fresh upon entry, the palate is a perfect balance of fruit and earthiness. Silky fine grain tannins provide a subtle firmness throughout, while the beautiful fruit and natural acidity lead the way to an exceptionally long finish.

2017 Lancel Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

Winemakers Selection: Collector

Exclusive Add On: Connoisseur

Savory aromas of rosehip, white pepper and fennel compliment the subtle fruity characteristics reminiscent of cranberry and pomegranate liquor. Succulent flavors of Satsuma zest, rhubarb and raspberry comingle beautifully, leading up to a concentrated and refined palate weight that lingers with fine, silky tannins. This is a gorgeous, coastal climate wine that is perfect for wine lovers who appreciate the mystery of Pinot Noir.

2017 Sanford & Benedict Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sta. Rita Hills

Winemakers Selection: Collector

Exclusive Add On: Connoisseur

A striking contrast to Pinot Noir blends from the Russian River Valley, this wine is dark in color and boasts aromas of dried tobacco leaves, cassis, black pepper and cedar box. The palate profile is fresh and vibrant, exploding with flavors of dark Bing cherry, black raspberry reduction sauce, sour boysenberry, and pomegranate seeds. The weight seems light and tangy initially, but opens up after two or three sips into a medium-bodied wine with ample, firm tannins that, combined with residual fruity, floral flavors, leaves a distinctly Earl Grey tea flavor and coating on the tongue that lingers persistently. This is our first release from Sanford & Benedict and we are thrilled with the finished wine, very much looking forward to a long-lasting relationship with the vineyard.

2017 Toboni Vineyard Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley

Winemakers Selection: Collector, Connoisseur & Enthusiast

Aromas of ripe, juicy raspberries, blackberries and cherry reduction tempt the taste buds at first sniff, while underlying hints of tobacco and cedar box intrigue the olfactory senses further. Rich, ripe and jammy berry flavors are balanced by hints of dried herbs, simmered mushrooms and a surprising complement of dark chocolate on the finish. Bold, rich, powerful and mouth-coating describe this tasty, food-friendly wine. Big, coating tannins provide a firmness throughout, while an elixir of dark fruit and vibrant acidity create a delicious and persistent finish.
