Hallelujah! Summer has finally arrived. We know some of you out there endured a seemingly never-ending winter– so we thought we would share some of our favorite summer wines to help you make the most of the long, warm evenings!
Our first picks: The 2014 Rosé of Pinot Noir
and 2014 Sauvignon Blanc
. These refreshing releases are only available for a few months at the beginning of the summer. They have to be ordered directly from the winery … and both are already down to the last 50 of 250 cases! Here’s why we love them...
Our Rosé of Pinot Noir
is crafted in the French style, so it’s a dry wine that manages to offer up loads of juicy, mouthwatering goodness in every sip. We have yet to find a more refreshing summer choice than a well-chilled Rosé: it gives body, weight and character along with racy acidity and fresh fruit aromas and flavors. Plus you can pair it with just about anything. We love ours with juicy hamburgers
off the BBQ or a strawberry summer salad
We enjoy Sauvignon Blanc all year long, but never more than on a hot summer day. With a backbone of citrusy, herbal, mineral loveliness the 2014 Sauvignon Blanc
has everything you want: vibrant flavors, bright acidity, and a clean, fresh finish. Serve this one up with seafood – think grilled swordfish
, cilantro lime shrimp tacos
or fresh oysters on the half shell
For you Chardonnay lovers out there, our top Summer Pick is the 2013 Bacigalupi Chardonnay
. Pinot File
gave this gorgeous release 90 points in their May 2015 issue: “The scents of citrus oil, apple, blonde caramel, spice, toffee and smoky oak are intriguing. … bright flavors of lemon-lime, pineapple, apple and nutty oak. Easy to cozy up to with thirst-quenching acidity."
What’s not to love? We’re pairing this one with BBQ chicken. Whether you grill it up with rosemary & garlic or homemade BBQ sauce
, this release will sing with your signature style.
And last … but certainly not least … we’ve selected the fresh, bright 2012 Stiling Pinot Noir
. Wine Enthusiast
awarded this beauty 91 points in May 2015, noting “it offers an expected earthiness and spiciness that intrigues around a core of balanced tension between fruit, acid and oak."
Pop this wine in the fridge for 15 minutes or so just to cool it slightly before you serve it – it will make the wine even more mouthwatering on a warm summer night. Another amazingly food-friendly wine, our favorite pairings are cedar planked salmon
or pomegranate glazed baby back ribs
Mmmm ... now we're hungry! Enjoy!
