Northern Sonoma County Restaurants

Geyserville & Cloverdale have a great selection of restaurants for the foodie and wine lover

In Geyserville, and Cloverdale, at the northern end of Sonoma County the food scene is buzzing and typifies the farm-to-fork philosophy that we see all over wine country. Gardens are picked daily to ensure the freshest local and regional foods end up on the plate next to a glass of great local wine. Here are some of our most frequented restaurants in and around the little town of Geyserville.

Catelli’s

21047 Geyserville Avenue

Geyserville, CA 95441

(707) 857–3471

http://www.mycatellis.com/

Located between the breathtaking hills of the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys, Catelli’s is a third generation restaurant that originally opened in 1936 by Italian immigrants Santi and Virginia Catelli. Grandchildren siblings Domenica and Nicholas Catelli now fill the place with incredible local and organic ingredients that have us coming back again and again. Author and Executive Chef Domenica has a rich history with the local food scene, and her food showcases that each night. Her ‘pasta of the moment’ is freshly handmade and features the freshest components from her gardens and local farmers. Nonnie’s Minestrone is based on her grandmother Virginia’s original recipe, while the burrata and prosciutto dish is spectacular with fresh Dry Creek Olive oil. See the prosciutto again in carbonara during the can’t miss pasta course, and we had the Niman Ranch Pork Porterhouse Marsala as a main course. While it may seem filling, when you are at Catelli’s there is never enough. Be sure to dine on the patio, it has casual vibe but feels Rat Pack-esque, like The Godfather should be sitting at the table next to you!

Diavola Pizzeria & Salumeria

21021 Geyserville Ave

Geyserville, CA 95441

(707) 814-0111

http://www.diavolapizzeria.com/

Diavola celebrates seasonal California food with an Italian state of mind. The rustic menu changes daily, and features carefully sourced meats, seafood and produce from local farms, ranches and fisheries. Dino Bugica honors a tradition known as cucina povera, which consists of using the most basic local ingredients combined with recipes that have been proven through centuries. He is an amazing chef with a laid back wine country feel, and last time we were there he was in the back breaking down an entire wild boar for that night’s ragu! The house made salami and cheese plate is a must for every visit, and the pork belly watermelon salad with heirloom tomatoes is a seasonal smash. Silky burrata and herbs, with a tomato coulis and pickled onions highlight the watermelon and pork belly with a delicious and vibrant freshness. The inferno pizza has roasted red peppers and provolone with spicy Calabrian peppers. Have a chilled glass of Sonoma County white wine nearby to help ease the still irresistible heat!

Trading Post

102 South Cloverdale Road

Cloverdale, CA 95425

(707) 894-6483

http://www.thepostcloverdale.com/

The Trading Post is an authentic farm to table dining experience that features an in house bakery. They celebrate a modern and warm environment with regional and seasonal recipes highlighted by their artisan breads. Chef/Owner Erik Johnson scours the local markets year round for his menu, but every Wednesday during the summer farmer’s market season he offers a prix fixe Midweek Market Menu providing an excellent opportunity to have freshest seasonal fare in a fun and whimsical way. Head Baker Aaron Arabian utilizes new and classic baking techniques while using a five-deck stone hearth oven that produces their signature breads. Our beet salad with fennel pollen and locally grown Satsuma plums was divine, as was the brisket tartine. The slow cooked and marinated beef had smoked onions and horseradish crème fraiche and was a mouthwatering dish. Be sure to try the fresh house made pastas as well.

At Gary Farrell Winery, we blend time honored traditions and modern techniques when we make wine, as do these incredible local restaurants. We reflect a defining Sonoma philosophy that puts the local harvests at the center of our values. We are fortunate to work with the most prestigious vineyards in the Russian River Valley and beyond, and even more fortunate to eat the same way. We love to dine local were restaurants are committed to a similar unwavering dedication to a respectful stewardship of the local products we care so much about. We invite you to explore the local restaurants that are true expressions of farm to table dining in Geyserville, Sonoma and beyond.
