2012 Russian River Selection Rosé of Pinot Noir Russian River Valley
VINEYARD: The Wat Vineyard is in a cool site located off Bodega Highway in Sebastopol, in one of the coolest parts of the Green Valley sub-appellation of the Russian River AVA. It is situated ~18.5 miles southwest of the winery and 12 miles east of the Pacific Coast. The coastal fogline provides a cooling effect after moderately warm, sunny days.
TASTING NOTES: Our Rosé was whole-cluster pressed in the same way one would make a white wine, creating a crisp, refreshing wine that is perfect for summer. This pale salmon-colored, bone-dry Rosé flaunts aromas of juicy strawberry, fresh raspberry, sweet Satsuma and orange blossom, with underlying layers of dried herbs, spices and flower petals. The first sip is mouthwatering with vibrant acidity, and then flavors of white nectarine, pomegranate and sour cherry emerge on the palate, followed by a long, slate-like finish.

Fantastic! Tart and bright with great strawberry and raspberry fruit. The acidity was in perfect balance and had a finish that seemed to last for minutes. More please. Outstanding. 91-93 Points. thedrunkencyclist.com

Editors' Choice.“Although pricey for a rosé, this shows wonderful complexity. The grapes come from two well-regarded vineyards, and the wine shows an elegant structure, with crisp acids and a dusting of tannins. It tastes of rose petals, herb tea, raspberries and nectarines.” –S.H. September, 2013
Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences
Exceptional.“Very pale in color. Berry/citrus notes and a faint, complex earthy aroma leads to a bone-dry and quite minerally finish. Simply superb.” – May 2, 2013

Refreshing Rosés Under $30.“We couldn't stop filling our glasses with Gary Farrell's pale-salmon Rosé. Crisp and bone-dry, it's everything you'd want in a Rosé. This is no floral or fruity wine; rather, it possesses the minerality of a Pinot Noir without the body.” – June 7, 2013

RECENT REVIEWS Trip Advisor | April 8, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “Gary Farrell Vineyards”One of the best wineries to visit. Superb wines and a beautiful setting. Staff is very friendly and this is the place to visit if you enjoy fine wines. Yelp | February 5, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “There are a bunch of great Westside Road wineries - GF stands head and shoulders above them”This is a review that is a long time in the making and as GF is at the top of my mind (just RSVP'd for upcoming release party) - I figured it was time... Even before my first visit to GF I was a fan of their pinots - a big fan, so a scheduled trip to Healdsburg at them at the top of my list. Unfortunately, we were running late on a Monday and arrived at 4:15 - nearly closing time. Our initial goal was to run in and just buy a couple bottles and maybe sneak in a taste or two if time allowed. Lianne welcomed us with a smile and a hello and our experience just grew from there… I honestly lost track of time - although I know we were there past the "official" closing time. I can't say enough how informative and friendly Lianne was and made our experience more like visiting an old friends house and enjoying a glass of wine. It also encouraged me to sign up for the wine club… Since that first visit there have been a couple more - each as great as the one before. There are a bunch of great Westside Road wineries - GF stands head and shoulders above them - for their wine, the great tasting room and views and of course - their employees. Trip Advisor | January 7, 2014 | 5/5 Stars“What a wonderful wine tasting experience!” This winery does it all right. You can stand in the beautiful tasting room overlooking the Russian River Valley while tasting excellent red and white wine while chatting with the very knowledgeable staff. Another option is sitting outside on the wonderful terrace and have your tasting glasses brought right to your table. This was my favorite. Great experience! Yelp | December 3, 2013 | 5/5 Stars “A must-stop-and-taste location”The most beautiful views in the area! This winery always has excellent vintages, outshining even the vineyards from which they are getting the grapes (looking at you, Rochioli). The staff is wonderful, the tasting room has been expanded and is gorgeous. We have been members here for years despite being from out of state and have loved every single bottle of wine we have received from them. Their customer service is top notch, too. Excellent winery and definitely a must-stop-and-taste location while in the area. Trip Advisor | November 19, 2013 | 4/5 Stars“A-maz-ing!”Of the dozen or so tastings we enjoyed this week on our recent visit from Denver, this was definitely top 2! The grounds and wines top notch, the staff attentive! Diana, a tasting room manager, especially deserves kudos. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We joined the club! And will be back. Trip Advisor | September 4, 2013 | 4/5 Stars “Warm wonderful wines and great scenery”Had an enjoyable stop at this winery, great staff and the views were so good Amy wanted to move. Wine was great if fact we took some with us and joined their club to keep that wine country experience coming in 3 times a year Trip Advisor | July 29, 2013 | 4/5 Stars “Great views and wine!”Great views, great wine and knowledgable and helpful staff. You can't beat sitting on the terrace with a good glass of wine. Trip Advisor | May 28, 2013 | 5/5 Stars “Terrace Tasting is a Must”My husband and I did the afternoon Terrace Tasting and it was great. The winery sits atop a hill and the terrace overlooks the valley below. The view is stunning. We tried a variety of single vineyard whites and reds and all were delicious. We also added the cheese pairing plate which was worth the extra money. The cheeses were perfectly matched with the wines. The wine guide was very knowledgable and provided us time to enjoy each wine. We never felt rushed. If you're in the Healdsburg area, you should definitely check out Gary Farrell for the view and the wines.
