2011 Russian River Selection Chardonnay Russian River Valley
VINEYARD: This vintage brings together fruit from some of our favorite Russian River Valley vineyards with a number of sites new to our cellar. We anchor the blend with the naturally balanced character of Westside Farms, while fruit from Rochioli Vineyard brings great concentration and structure. Among our exciting new sources is Pellegrini’s 65-acre Olivet Lane vineyard featuring the Wente clone, which adds nice citrus tones and excellent acidity. And just north of Rochioli- Allen, the Bacigalupi Goddard Ranch site brings intriguing floral tones and stone fruit character.
TASTING NOTES: Enticing aromas of stonefruit, honeysuckle and lemongrass fill the glass, followed by a flavor profile ofexceptional intensity and vibrant acidity, balanced by a rich, creamy texture thatcomes from extended lees stirring during malolactic fermentation. This wineexpresses pure, unadulterated Russian River Chardonnay intermingled withdistinctive cool-climate notes such as lemon oil, citrus peel, honey, lime andexcellent acidity.

Editors' Choice. "This Chardonnay is extremely close in style and complexity to Gary Farrell's best single-vineyard bottlings, for a lower price. The wine is mouthwatering in acidity, with rich tropical fruit, peach and lime flavors." — S.H., Best of the Year Issue, December 2013

RECENT REVIEWS Yelp | July 8, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “Great views, nice people, great wine--who wouldn't be in!”Really enjoyed my recent "revisit" (for the third time) to Gary Farrell...Enjoyed our hostess Diana, who was quite fun and told us quite a bit about the wines we were trying...My buddy and I even purchased a couple of cookbook "holders"--for lack of a better word--which were made from wine barrels.. We were even convinced, after hearing about the scrumptious pork menu, to make a reservation for a future wine dinner on site...Great views, nice people, great wine--who wouldn't be "in!" Yelp | May 9, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “Wow Gary Farrell is wonderful”Wow Gary Farrell is wonderful. Their Pinots are delicious, the Zin was one if my favorites the last time we visited. My fiancé thought enough of the whole experience+the wine to join their wine club! The drive there is lovely and the views from the winery are stunning. Trip Advisor | April 8, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “Gary Farrell Vineyards”One of the best wineries to visit. Superb wines and a beautiful setting. Staff is very friendly and this is the place to visit if you enjoy fine wines. Trip Advisor | April 8, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “Gary Farrell Vineyards”One of the best wineries to visit. Yelp | February 5, 2014 | 5/5 Stars “There are a bunch of great Westside Road wineries - GF stands head and shoulders above them”This is a review that is a long time in the making and as GF is at the top of my mind (just RSVP'd for upcoming release party) - I figured it was time... Even before my first visit to GF I was a fan of their pinots - a big fan, so a scheduled trip to Healdsburg at them at the top of my list. Unfortunately, we were running late on a Monday and arrived at 4:15 - nearly closing time. Our initial goal was to run in and just buy a couple bottles and maybe sneak in a taste or two if time allowed. Lianne welcomed us with a smile and a hello and our experience just grew from there… I honestly lost track of time - although I know we were there past the "official" closing time. I can't say enough how informative and friendly Lianne was and made our experience more like visiting an old friends house and enjoying a glass of wine. It also encouraged me to sign up for the wine club… Since that first visit there have been a couple more - each as great as the one before. There are a bunch of great Westside Road wineries - GF stands head and shoulders above them - for their wine, the great tasting room and views and of course - their employees. Trip Advisor | January 7, 2014 | 5/5 Stars“What a wonderful wine tasting experience!” This winery does it all right. You can stand in the beautiful tasting room overlooking the Russian River Valley while tasting excellent red and white wine while chatting with the very knowledgeable staff. Another option is sitting outside on the wonderful terrace and have your tasting glasses brought right to your table. This was my favorite. Great experience! Yelp | December 3, 2013 | 5/5 Stars “A must-stop-and-taste location”The most beautiful views in the area! This winery always has excellent vintages, outshining even the vineyards from which they are getting the grapes (looking at you, Rochioli). The staff is wonderful, the tasting room has been expanded and is gorgeous. We have been members here for years despite being from out of state and have loved every single bottle of wine we have received from them. Their customer service is top notch, too. Excellent winery and definitely a must-stop-and-taste location while in the area. Trip Advisor | November 19, 2013 | 4/5 Stars“A-maz-ing!”Of the dozen or so tastings we enjoyed this week on our recent visit from Denver, this was definitely top 2! The grounds and wines top notch, the staff attentive! Diana, a tasting room manager, especially deserves kudos. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We joined the club! And will be back. Trip Advisor | September 4, 2013 | 4/5 Stars “Warm wonderful wines and great scenery”Had an enjoyable stop at this winery, great staff and the views were so good Amy wanted to move. Wine was great if fact we took some with us and joined their club to keep that wine country experience coming in 3 times a year Trip Advisor | July 29, 2013 | 4/5 Stars “Great views and wine!”Great views, great wine and knowledgable and helpful staff. You can't beat sitting on the terrace with a good glass of wine.
