2001 Merlot - Russian River Valley / Calypso Vineyard

VINTAGE
Though situated in an area generally considered to be a very cool Region 1 area, Otis noted that his particular location was somewhat warmer and less foggy than the surrounding lower elevation vineyards. His decision to plant Merlot on this site came after a great deal of soul-searching, as this was not the obvious choice for this Russian River Valley site. As it turns out, his intuition paid off - as evidenced by this Merlot produced from his vineyard.

WINEMAKER'S NOTES
These grapes were harvested on September 3rd (Merlot) and November 1st (Cabernet Sauvignon) with an average sugar content of 24.0 brix, .68 gm/100 ml total titratable acidity and 3.40 pH.
