2000 Pinot Noir - Russian River Valley / Starr Ridge Vineyard
WINEMAKER'S NOTES

What strikes me immediately about this wine is its freshness and vibrancy. One cannot help but be drawn to its stunning, youthful violet–edged color yet this is only a prelude to the allure that its wildly enticing, berry–fruit aromas offer to the experience. The promise of flavor is delivered completely with an incredible array of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry fruit and wrapped in an envelope of lavish oak and spice elements. While the wine is very forward and abundant in its offering of richness and flavor it is never about power. Rather, it is about elegance and above all, balance balance between fruit and oak and the precise integration of acids and tannins. This wine is "classic Russian River Valley" in its orientation and expression and a fine example of why this appellation has received such acclaim in recent years for Pinot Noir.
